Nathan: 8

Yo waddup guys, I just checked the flow chart and saw that it’s my day, so I’m gonna write this now. Today I’ll be telling you all about going 5-0 on Sunday!!! I played against a bunch of weird decks and would like to talk about them.

ROUND 1

Round 1 can be kinda cake because you get matched up against anybody, as opposed to only people with the same record as you. I faced off against a guy who just started playing with his wife and child. He was playing Gardevoir EX, which is a very poor matchup for me. Thankfully, this guy wasn’t very good at the game and also couldn’t set up. He did eventually Iono me to 1 card, but I used Mew EX and Fezandipiti EX (because he finally KO’d my Raging Bolt) to draw back to 6 cards and win the game.

ROUND 2

In round 2, I played against a different variant of Raging Bolt from the one I’m playing. This one opts to use Iono’s Bellibolt EX as its energy support. This is not a very good way to play Raging Bolt, & once I took the first 2 prize cards, my opponent couldn’t muster up a response KO, and conceded. Easy peasy.

ROUND 3

This time, I played against a pretty fun deck in Azumarill. This non-rule box Pokémon hits very hard as long as there is a Tera Pokémon in play. This means they will always have a 2 prize liability on their bench that I can take advantage of. This was just a game of gust, gust, gust to win. (Whenever I flip heads on Pokémon Catcher for a game, my opponents get salty.)

ROUND 4

I am genuinely confused how Copperajah EX managed to go 3,0, but their Cinderella run ends here. My opponent never really got to set up and only managed to attack 1 time with a cheeky mind bend from Munkidori. Another cupcake win in the books.

ROUND 5

Woah, a real deck??? That's what I thought to myself after matching up against Dragapult EX with Dusknoir. This was my first opponent’s wife! Safe to say I own the family because I’m pretty sure I shat on their youngling a couple weeks ago. This game was extremely anticlimactic as my opponent opened Fezandipiti EX, drew a card, and passed their turn. I proceeded to use Ogerpon’s ability, Teal Dance, and drew into a Crispin, which I used to win the game on the spot. Easiest 5-0 ever, and I won 8 prize packs!!

In conclusion, I played against a wide variety of decks that aren’t very good, and my opponents could never really get going under the relentless pressure of Bellowing Thunder. I’ve also just realized I have to paste this into Google Docs and do hyperlinks on my phone. Hope everyone has a wonderful rest of their week.
