Messy one cuz I’m late, enjoy.
I love caffeine. Whether it’s triple shot latte with oat milk , a peach mango Celsius, or accompanied by 14% alcohol content in a gold 4loko, it’s truly wonderful. It’s also probably the most widespread and socially acceptable drug of all time. If you’re one of those people who don’t really feel the effects of caffeine, i feel bad for you. I am sorry.
I’ve spent a lot of time debating on if caffeine is good or bad, and if one should be wary of their dependence on it. But after some personal experimentation and introspection, I’ve come to the conclusion that life caffeinated is far superior to life un-caffeinated. Atleast for my lifestyle and who i am as a person. But of course moderation is always key.
If you too enjoy a nice caffeinated beverage, i encourage you to open your mind to different mediums of caffeine. Especially if you have your “go-to”, as many people do. Your findings may pleasantly surprise you. The fact is coffee beans, tea leaves, and mysterious lab derived caffeine, all have different effects.
The following is a list of caffeinated beverage options, and a personal rating of each. Please note I’m not too educated on coffee itself so forgive my lack of knowledge of the difference between a cappuccino and a medium roast arabica affogato. I just like gettin busy.
A normal cup of joe - 7.5/10
Good when it needs to be, a little push is all you need sometimes. Sometimes it tastes like butt tho.
Black coffee - 1/10
If you drink this stop pretending you like it. Unacceptable
Espresso coffee drink (like a latte or cappuccino or whatever) - 9/10
Thoughtful caffeine dosage, customizable creaminess, what’s not to love? An everyday staple for many.
Tea (Earl Grey, English Breakfast, etc. really any black tea in this case) - 10/10
A timeless classic. If you don’t drink tea, i highly, highly recommend you try it. I’ll probably write my next blog about tea. The caffeine is minimal, but that’s not really the point. The caffeine that is derived from tea leaves creates a more stable effect that minimizes the “crash” a lot of people get from coffee. I’d take a cup of hot black tea over a plain cup of joe any day. Maybe a hot take.
Celsius - 7/10
This one is when you need to get busy. I prefer the non-carbonated ones, likely because they are usually tea flavored, but damn they got that shit figured out. Minus 3 points for the bullshit chemicals they put in it to make it more addictive. This has unfortunately been my daily driver for the past month or so.
Redbull - 5/10
the different flavors are fun, but i want more liquid to enjoy. The OG is nice when you want to taste gasoline. Again minus points for mystery chemicals
Sugar-free Redbull - 10/10
Forever in my heart because it got me thru my weekly 4am semi-truck unloading shifts at my Kohls internship last summer. Automatic 10 for this alone. #FormerManagerInTraining The taste is also WAY better than normal OG redbull.
Mountain Dew Kickstart via Palm Harbor University High School vending machines - 9/10
the pineapple one is the best tasting energy drink i have ever had. IFYKYK. If you would like to relive this drink like i do sometimes then head over to the Mobil gas station attached to Dunkin next to the Dunedin Causeway, they sell them. Also buying these everyday in highschool is probably the reason im often addicted to caffeine as an adult.
Preworkout (powder form mixed into water, not the pre-canned) - 8/10
Madness. Be wary.
Any other canned energy drink you can buy at a gas station - 3/10
Poison
